{"id":128,"date":"2003-07-05T15:11:38","date_gmt":"2003-07-05T15:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"0"},"modified":"2006-09-28T12:08:15","modified_gmt":"2006-09-28T12:08:15","slug":"allez_lance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=128","title":{"rendered":"Allez, Lance!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is the prologue individual time trial in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.velonews.com\/tour2003\/\" target=\"browser\">100th Tour de France<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Lance Armstrong is starting at 1:05pm EST today, and is favored to win his 5th straight victory. Only the incredible (literally &#8211; his resting heart rate was supposedly in the low 30&#8217;s) &#8220;Big Mig&#8221; Miguel Indurain has ever won 5 in a row; not Mercx, not Anquetil, not &#8220;le blaireau&#8221; Hinault &#8211; all of whom are legendary bicycle racers and have won 5 times each, but not 5 in a row.<br \/>\nI was a mediocre amateur cyclist through college and grad school, which meant that when I had a chance to be a <i>suiveur<\/i> (one of the guys in the cars) at the &#8217;78 Tour, I could appreciate just how insanely hard it is.
