{"id":2799,"date":"2003-02-24T16:39:59","date_gmt":"2003-02-24T16:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.armedliberal.com\/?p=559"},"modified":"2003-02-24T16:39:59","modified_gmt":"2003-02-24T16:39:59","slug":"lost-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=2799","title":{"rendered":"LOST WEEKEND"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for dropping out of sight like that; got another invite to go up to the mountains and ski with Tenacious G and Middle Guy, and took it&#8230;of course I got sick with <i>la grippe<\/i> Friday, and spent most of the weekend wrapped in a quilt on the sofa of my friend&#8217;s condo.<br \/>\nI did get a half-day of skiing in, and managed a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.warrenmiller.net\/\" target=\"browser\">Warren Miller<\/a>-worthy crash on <a href=\"http:\/\/mammothsecrets.com\/skiruns\/daves.htm\" target=\"browser\">Dave&#8217;s Run<\/a>. You know you&#8217;ve crashed well when, after you (finally) get to a stop, you hear a soft voice from above you going &#8220;<i>Duuuude! You OK?<\/i>&#8221;<br \/>\nSo I had no Internet connection, but managed to read a couple of books (the new William Gibson, <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0399149864\/armedliberal-20\">Pattern Recognition<\/A>, and Jay Walters&#8217; and Dan Walter&#8217;s great <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0877723974\/armedliberal-20\">The Third House:  Lobbyists, Power, and Money in Sacramento<\/A>).<br \/>\nI&#8217;m back, will work on the &#8216;Risk&#8217; stuff and catch up to all the world&#8217;s events, plus all the comments.<br \/>\nWith all that, a nice weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for dropping out of sight like that; got another invite to go up to the mountains and ski with Tenacious G and Middle Guy, and took it&#8230;of course I got sick with la grippe Friday, and spent most of the weekend wrapped in a quilt on the sofa of my friend&#8217;s condo.
