{"id":1069,"date":"2006-04-19T14:44:14","date_gmt":"2006-04-19T14:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"0"},"modified":"2006-09-28T12:09:42","modified_gmt":"2006-09-28T12:09:42","slug":"tragedy_and_cou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=1069","title":{"rendered":"Tragedy and Courage in Baghdad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And as a good counterpoint to Michael Yon&#8217;s post, here&#8217;s a tragic one from Omar and Mohammed at Iraq the Model &#8211; their brother-in-law was just assassinated.<\/p>\n<p>Their reaction: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/iraqthemodel.blogspot.com\/2006\/04\/kill-us-but-you-wont-enslave-us.html\" target=\"browser\">Kill us, but you won&#8217;t enslave us.<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You want to abandon them, and the men and women like them? Not with my support. Not ever.<\/p>\n<p>They write:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>The terrorists and criminals are targeting all elements of life and they target anyone who wants to do something good for this country\u2026They think by assassinating one of us they could deter us from going forward but will never succeed, they can delay us for years but we will never go back and abandon our dream.<br \/>\nWe have vowed to follow the steps of our true martyrs and we will raise the new generation to continue the march, these children of today are the hope and the future.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Go over and show them some support.
