{"id":1095,"date":"2006-05-12T19:00:28","date_gmt":"2006-05-12T19:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"0"},"modified":"2006-09-28T12:09:46","modified_gmt":"2006-09-28T12:09:46","slug":"i_always_though","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=1095","title":{"rendered":"I Always Thought Constructivists Were Painters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abu Aardvark is someone I&#8217;ve read for quite a while &#8211; since he and I had a kind of inconclusive debate here some time ago.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, he posted an <a href=\"http:\/\/abuaardvark.typepad.com\/abuaardvark\/2006\/05\/alqaedas_constr.html\" target=\"browser\">interesting &#8211; worth powering through the academic jargon &#8211; post<\/a> on the &#8216;war of ideas,&#8217; which he explains as a &#8220;constructivist&#8221; strategy (for more on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edb.utexas.edu\/csclstudent\/Dhsiao\/theories.html#construct\" target=\"browser\">constructivism<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>His post\/article is a framing document and a program for further research &#8211; which I certainly think would be a good idea.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll suggest that his concern that Al Quieda is dominating the &#8216;construction&#8217; of meaning around the conflict is somewhat pessimistic; the actions of AQ that attract a small population also risk repelling a larger one (sort of like the &#8220;netroots&#8221; in Democratic party politics).<\/p>\n<p>But fracturing the perceived unity of reaction by the Muslim world is Job #1 in my view, and anything that contributes to it is a Really Good Thing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abu Aardvark calls for an interesting study on the ideas beingbatted around within the Muslim world. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1095"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1095"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1095\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1095"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=1095"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=1095"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
