{"id":1354,"date":"2007-02-28T17:00:24","date_gmt":"2007-02-28T17:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"0"},"modified":"2007-02-28T17:42:39","modified_gmt":"2007-02-28T17:42:39","slug":"if_true_this_is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=1354","title":{"rendered":"If True, This Is Outrageous:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/2007\/02\/TNSreedinspect070227\/\" target=\"browser\">Army Times<\/a>, via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memeorandum.com\/\" target=\"browser\">Memeorandum<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center&#8217;s Medical Hold Unit say they have been told they will wake up at 6 a.m. every morning and have their rooms ready for inspection at 7 a.m., and that they must not speak to the media.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;Some soldiers believe this is a form of punishment for the trouble soldiers caused by talking to the media,&#8221; one Medical Hold Unit soldier said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Army is showing itself to be colossally inept at managing it&#8217;s public perception, but &#8211; simply put &#8211; to clamp down on what can only be considered an expose is wrong, counterproductive, bound to fail, and damaging to the well-being of the troops &#8211; whose conditions will be improved and chain of command held accountable when transparency is held as the highest value.<\/p>\n<p>If this is a matter of ensuring that the chain of command isn&#8217;t blindsided, it&#8217;s worse. Because of the chain of command isn&#8217;t directly aware of the conditions in the facilities they control or use, they should be retired.
