It does look like my kneejerk reaction – that Maliki got the upper hand – may be a matter of insufficient data. Or at least the consensus across the moderate blogs seems to support that.<\/p>\n

And there are more than a few reports<\/a> that Maliki’s side opened the negotiations – which might support my contention in principle, but switches the outcome in reality.<\/p>\n
