{"id":2276,"date":"2010-03-28T18:15:07","date_gmt":"2010-03-28T18:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"0"},"modified":"2010-03-28T18:15:07","modified_gmt":"2010-03-28T18:15:07","slug":"bad_solutions_t","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marcdanziger.com\/?p=2276","title":{"rendered":"Bad Solutions To Tough Problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-lausd28-2010mar28,0,4558662.story?\" target=\"browser\">LAUSD and its unions just made a deal<\/a> to try and keep the foundering district afloat &#8211; by screwing the students.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers, whose salaries are the largest part of the budget for the district, agreed to furlough days and a shortened school year in return for pay cuts &#8211; in other words, their wages remain the same, but they will work (and get paid) less.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the students &#8211; who would benefit from smaller classes and longer school years &#8211; pay.<\/p>\n<p>Fire them all, close the institution, paint the buildings, and start over. Note that when I say that I&#8217;m not being rhetorical.
