Over at BlackFive is a letter to SecDef Gates<\/a> asking him to repeal DADT. I signed it…<\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span>We consider the US military the
\ngreatest institution for good that has ever existed. No other organization has
\nfreed more people from oppression, done more humanitarian work or rescued more
\nfrom natural disasters.  <\/span>We want that to
\ncontinue.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span>
<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, it appears inevitable to
\nus that the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and law restricting those displaying open homosexual
\nbehavior from serving will be changed. 
\n<\/span>And yet, very little will actually change.  <\/span>Homosexuals have always served in the US
\nMilitary, and there have been no real problems caused by that.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span>The service chiefs are currently
\nstudying the impact and consequences of changing the DADT policy, and how to
\nimplement it without compromising the morale, order and discipline necessary
\nfor the military to function. The study is due to be completed on Dec. 1st. We
\nask Congress to withhold action until this is finished, but no longer.  <\/span>We urge Congress to listen to the service
\nchiefs and act in accordance with the recommendations of that study.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span>The US Military is professional
\nand ready to adapt to the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell without compromising
\nits mission.  <\/span>Echoing Sec. Def. Gates and
\nADM Mullen, we welcome open and honorable service, regardless of sexual
\norientation.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span>
