The reasons are simple to understand; when the great WWII migration happened, someone had to feed everyone, and we managed to bring in practitioners of the various regional styles.<br \/>\nI\u0092ll suggest three places, in no particular order:<br \/>\n<a href=http:\/\/losangeles.citysearch.com\/profile\/72832\/ target=\u0094browser\u0094>Woody\u0092s<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=http:\/\/losangeles.citysearch.com\/profile\/66269\/ target=\u0094browser\u0094>The Pit<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=http:\/\/losangeles.citysearch.com\/profile\/9802\/ target=\u0094browser\u0094>Phillip\u0092s<\/a><br \/>\nAll are small family-run places in South-Central. Go see the newly renovated <a href=http:\/\/www.arts.ufl.edu\/art\/rt_room\/watts\/tower2.html target=\u0094browser\u0094>Watts Towers<\/a> and make a lunch of it.<br \/>\n<b>UPDATE:<\/b> As long as we\u0092re talking brisket, I have to add California\u0092s contribution, Santa Maria tri-tip. To really enjoy it, you have to go to Central California; in Nipomo, Jocko\u0092s (my personal favorite) and The Hitching Post in Casmalia. Check out this <a href=http:\/\/www.waywithwords.biz\/smbbq.html target=\u0094browser\u0094>review<\/a> of both.<br \/>\nThanks to all the commenters here, we went and had mediocre ribs last night at a local chain BBQ place.
