What we do know is that the current course of the AFL-CIO is not tenable. It\u2019s stagnant, stalled and mostly a piggy bank for Democrats, many of whom don&#8217;t give a damn about labor.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But he doesn&#8217;t go nearly far enough. The paralyzing mutual embrace between Big Labor and the Democratic Party is a marriage that is awful for both parties&#8230;Labor, who is taken for granted by the Democratic leadership and ignored when real interests are at stake&#8230;and the Democrats, who are locked into a set of sclerotic positions by labor leaders who have a veto on candidates.<\/p>\n<p>A wild and wooly time will surely follow, as new alignments, positions, and alliances are formed.
