See embarassing update, above…
My copy of Thunderbird just upgraded itself to 1.5.0.10 – and now it won’t download any mail.
I can’t get to the support forums at Mozilla, suggesting that I may not be alone…
So if you haven’t upgraded yet, I’d consider disabling auto upgrade on Thunderbird and waiting to see what (if anything) is going on.
Armed Liberal, I have just experienced the same problem a couple of hours ago. My pc started playing up as soon as I clicked OK for downloading and Installing. I shut everything down and started up again, opened my browser – Firefox – went to Mozilla.com and downloaded the 1.5.0.10 from there. And “Voila!”. There it was, with Address book, old emails and it was downloading New messages. Was this of any help? – well, it worked for me so why shouldn’t it for you? Best regards, JD in Oslo
My copy upgraded about 20 minutes ago and is working fine. No problems.
yeah, I drew the short straw on this one, that’s for sure…still not working…
If you’re using Gmail’s POP server for mail, check that SSL is still enabled under “Tools -> Account Settings -> Account -> Server Settings”. I have experienced mail issues before after an upgrade and the reset of this option was the cause.
Geez, thanks for this warning. This way I won’t be upgrading my Thunderbird as of the moment.
Automatic update seemed to work fine on Mac OS-X (PowerBook G4). Everything works as it should.
Damn. The “I’ve just downloaded the update and will install when you restart” message is sitting on my computer…
