In the driveway…

…gonna be fun. We’ve shelved ‘Tammany’ as a name, and are going with ‘Montecore.’ One hopes it will serve as a reminder that it has fangs and claws, and that I treat it with appropriate care.

  1. Hey, that looks great!
You’re lucky I’m currently poor, because otherwise I’d have picked that same shade.
Did you get the hard bags, or any other farkles?

    Enjoy,
    BK

PS: I did like Montecore better all along

  2. Congrats! Sweet ride, love the color!
What’s the big blue box in the backround?
That what they ship them in? 🙂

  3. Very nice. I’ve read on another Triumph forum (had 1050 in the name, don’t remember for sure) that the yellow production run is done, so this will be rare for a couple of years.

I trust that you will have many happy (and fast) miles on Montecore. But looking up the name in WikiMeaningless, I see the following caution:

“However, captive tigers are known to be dangerous even when supposedly tame, since these animals usually retain their predatory instincts.”

Prey on, and keep the rubber side up,

  4. Oh, and I took it for the 1st real ride today…

OK, back from a 360 mile day…Las Flores, Balcom, 33, Lockwood, Lake Hughes, Francisquito, Spunky, AFH, ACH.

    How do I like it?

Remember in the Incredibles near the end when Syndrome drops the baby, Elastigirl rescues him, Syndrome gets sucked into his jet car which explodes and falls on the Incredibles but Violet creates a force field and saves them all?

And the little neighbor kid watches the whole thing on his tricycle, pumps his hands in the air and shouts “THAT…WAS…AWESOME!!”?

    Like that, only stronger.

Seriously, the engine is just starting to loosen up (506 miles in the driveway tonight), the front is a little stiff, the back is a little soft…but fookin amazing. From the tight twisties to the big sweepers, it’s just planted and ridiculously easy to ride. Some of the roads (Balcom, Lockwood) were dirty, so I got to slide it around a little, and it was just perfectly controllable. Rode it moto-style, elbows up and pushing the bike down, roadbike style, hanging off…both work just fine.

The seat is going to take some getting used to…it’s wide and feels awkward to move across the bike. But damn. Double damn. Triple damn with farkles. This is the most comfy I’ve been with a bike yet…and I’m just starting to ride it.
