Went to a Survival Research Labs show in downtown Los Angeles last night; they do events that are somehow performance art in the form of robots that are somehow also sculptures which involve fire, large whirring machines, and the occasional explosion.Last night didn’t disappoint.
* A flaming, twenty-five foot tall Trojan Horse that was burned to the ground.
* A hovercraft pushed by red-hot pulsejets.
* The biggest spud gun I’ve ever seen (or felt the blast of).
* A wall of fire.
If you don’t mind loud noises, the proximity to fire and whizzing home-made machinery, and lots of people with piercings, tatoos, and odd-colored hair. I mentioned to TG that – lacking those – we were the nonconformists in the crowd.
Until we ran into true nonconformist Brady Westwater.
Sounds like a great do.
What makes Brady a true nonconformist? He’s not exactly alone in exposing the LA Times inability to tell the truth these days.
Somebody’s jealous here…………………………………….
Looks like fun!
Yeah, Mark Pauline of SRL is quite a story. Here’s an interview with him.
Joe, you’d have to meet him…
A.L.
Can you give us a hint?
