Speaking of Excuses…

Don’t forget the pan the salmon is in was in the oven at 450 degrees.

It’s hard to type with the last two fingers of each hand…

Light posting to continue for a few days, sorry.

  1. For future use, this type of cooking contact burn responds well to plunging the hand into ice water and keeping it there for a long time (even hours).

Yeah, how do I know this. 🙁

    Hope you feel better soon.

[Or you could try George W. Bush’s approach and surge the other hand onto the pan.]

  2. I hope you at least cursed magnificently, just to show that you haven’t lost the will to live.

This is why it’s handy to know Yiddish, because there has to be an appropriate Yiddish curse to use on cookware. “May you and all your kind end up in a hospital supply catalog and be used as bedpans,” or something like that.

  3. “Everyone has a right to be stupid, but Comrade Danziger abuses the privilege.” – A mangle of something Trotsky once said about Dwight McDonald.

  4. BTW while playing with sparklers or some other similar type of amusement I got a real nasty burn on my thumb and part of my hand.

Ice water for 3 days. Try to do that while you are sleeping. Your hand gets numb from the ice and if you move while asleep the pain wakes you right up. These things you remember. For a while.

I guess I was abusing the privledge.

  5. This is at least the second time you’ve posted about burning yourself (the last one I remember was about touching brake disks right after stopping).

Are you sure you don’t have some kind of dermatological death wish?

  6. [NM: DELETED. Over the “civility” line (Rule 5). Even if you know AL well enough to call him that name, email might be the place for it but this thread isn’t.

Consider this your first warning. If you’re puzzled, read the “WoC comments policy”:http://www.windsofchange.net/archives/003367.php .
