Thunderbird Upgrade – Be Careful!

See embarassing update, above…

My copy of Thunderbird just upgraded itself to 1.5.0.10 – and now it won’t download any mail.

I can’t get to the support forums at Mozilla, suggesting that I may not be alone…

So if you haven’t upgraded yet, I’d consider disabling auto upgrade on Thunderbird and waiting to see what (if anything) is going on.

  1. Armed Liberal, I have just experienced the same problem a couple of hours ago. My pc started playing up as soon as I clicked OK for downloading and Installing. I shut everything down and started up again, opened my browser – Firefox – went to Mozilla.com and downloaded the 1.5.0.10 from there. And “Voila!”. There it was, with Address book, old emails and it was downloading New messages. Was this of any help? – well, it worked for me so why shouldn’t it for you? Best regards, JD in Oslo

  2. If you’re using Gmail’s POP server for mail, check that SSL is still enabled under “Tools -> Account Settings -> Account -> Server Settings”. I have experienced mail issues before after an upgrade and the reset of this option was the cause.
