Look, I’ve got a lot of issues with what’s going on in Afghanistan, but this kind of fantasy regency from afar does nothing but make things worse.

Galbraith needs to stick to silent influence-peddling and profiteering; it seems he’s better at that than diplomacy.

  1. So Karzai has a tendency to ramble, and to say wildly inappropriate things? Displays stunning political naivete? Does he seem emotionally disconnected, and deeply confused about who his friends and enemies are? Is he sullen, withdrawn, thin-skinned, and bad tempered? Icy demeanor?

    Maybe that Afghan heroin has gotten up into the atmosphere somehow.

  2. I saw a clip of an interview with this guy. The first statement alluded to something like a fondness for one of Afghanistan’s most profitable exports, in his follow-up he mentioned hashish.

    I agree with AL. We need comments from guys like this like we need a hole in the head.

    He is the type that makes my skin crawl.
