I used to think of Coulter as the right-wing version of Michael Moore, but she’s not. Rush Limbaugh is the right-wing Michael Moore. Coulter is the right-wing Jello Biafra. There’s not really much point in paying attention to her any more; the conservatives who admire her do so just because she gets liberals’ goat.

Hey, college is supposed to be about free inquiry, the exchange of ideas, and all that. If a college is doing its job then it should have a higher looniness quotient than the culture at large.Besides, Ann’s stuff is no more offensive than a lot of the left-wing crap that gets peddled at colleges. At least they’re giving fair time for right-wing crap.

There is every reason to believe this is all true. I didn’t go to Ann Coulter’s speech, but this account squares well with the others that were floating around campus at the time. Also, the “Right Turn” is a conservative campus paper likely to be sympathetic to Coulter, and unlikely to make up the amazingly silly things she said.
