I am embarassed, jealous and now motivated. I am 54 years old, I served 28 years and 21 days in the Air Force. I was in Desert Storm and Somalia. I also tried to volunteer to return to some type of service and received the same gentle rebuff.I didn’t consider, or know about, what Steve is going to do. I’m now motivated to keep looking for some way to serve.Thank you for some much needed incentive. I start looking today, now, this minute.Smooth sailing.Jim Hogue, CMSgt, USAF ret

It is good that you still honor the oath. It is an honorable oath. God be with you.James

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You represent the courage and commitment that America is really all about. Be safe. Know that you are in the hands of the greatest military on earth. And, your good eyes; great experience WILL come in handy in the times ahead. If you think you’re foolish … you about as “foolish” as Abraham Lincoln. And, thank you, too, for blogging your story for so many of us out here, to read. Please remember the faces of those of us on shore, now bidding you God’s grace. We will be here, too, to enjoy your safe return. And, PEACE. (Shalom)

Good luck, sailor! I’m proud to be part of the country that you chose to serve.

What the hell did I just write…? Blogs are boring. Get on the ocean. The war will pick up the spirits of the bloggers, though. The bloggers are needed, actually. They are very valuable and they actually steer public discourse, keep it moving somewhat in the direction of common-sense. Altercation and Tapped aside. Blogs happen in the upper atmosphere where all the internet communication takes place. We need to be able to enter into higher bodies when we blog, so that we can see the actual scene below us and commentate. Maybe that is the next phase for blogging…

Good Luck, God Bless and Calms Seas and Smooth Water to you. I am retired Army and nearly as old as you so I know the guts it took to make that decision. We appreciate what you are doing and pass that along to your shipmates.
