Friday MotoGP News

As I’ve said, I’m a fan of Valentino Rossi, who bravely changed teams and is now racing Grand Prix motorcycles for Yamaha.

So here are Friday’s MotoGP Qualifying Results From South African Grand Prix:

1. Valentino ROSSI, Yamaha, 1:33.353
2. Sete GIBERNAU, Honda, 1:33.378
3. Loris CAPIROSSI, Ducati, 1:33.709
4. Max BIAGGI, Honda, 1:33.730
5. Kenny ROBERTS, Suzuki, 1:33.841
6. Colin EDWARDS, Honda, 1:33.859
7. Marco MELANDRI, Yamaha, 1:34.100
8. Makoto TAMADA, Honda, 1:34.177
9. Nicky HAYDEN, Honda, 1:34.208
10. Carlos CHECA, Yamaha, 1:34.540

Note that Roberts, Edwards, and Hayden are all Americans (although Edwards is a Texan, so some may disagree…). It’s like the 1970’s again in MotoGP…

  1. Is this race run at Kyalami? That is such a great track. I used to love it when the F1 season would start there. Things got funky and they stopped going and the track disappeared from the minds of the F1 crowd.

For fans of open-wheel racing in Southern Cali, this weekend is the Long Beach Grand Prix. If you have never been, you are missing an amazing show. The sightlines at the track are great, the weather is great, you are right next to the ocean, it is truly a 200 mph Beach Party. Get out and show your support this weekend. if not, we are going to end up with the damn IRL (Indy Racing League) where they think they are special even though they only turn left. Support Street Course Racing!!!

  2. Armed Liberal, what was the meaning of the title to your previous Rossi post? [It was “Rossifumi”].

  3. Rossi is a motorcycle GOD. the bigger an underdog he is the faster he goes. i can’t remember how many times he has run off the track and come from way back to win. If anyone can win a championship on a Yamaha it is he.
