The Associated PressLIVINGSTON, La. (AP) — A motorcyclist has been given a couple of days to think about the record he set — at least in the minds of state troopers.
Brian Samuel Willis, 20, was clocked zooming down Interstate 12 on Sunday at 155 miles per hour — more than two times the speed limit 70, state police said.
“That may be the fastest of all-time in the state,” said Trooper Ryan Riley of Troop A. “I can’t confirm it, but I don’t think anyone has ever gotten anybody at 155. The fastest I know of is like 144.”
Must have been a Ducati.
Nope. I just read the whole thing. A Yamaha? I refuse to believe this. I want video.
Back in the early 1980s, I was doing a high-speed night run on my old Honda, and was peaking at about 130 to 135.
…at which point, someone on some _really_ fast motorcycle blew past me by a good 30 or 40 MPH. So I said “hell with it,” and shut back down to a mere 80 or so. Which was a good thing, since a half-dozen cops blew past me a couple of minutes later, trying to catch the other guy…
Callimachus – Superbike Magazine had a test on the R6 – if it’s last-gen, it tops at about 158; current-gen at about 164 (numbers from memory).
Damn, from .6 liter – think about that!

Did he do something wrong?
He wasn’t riding too fast. He was flying too low.
The FAA does require “500 feet clearance from any person, vehicle or structure”, and more than that in non-rural areas. 😉
